School Holiday – Toowoomba & Boomers Weekend

What to Expect

• All transport including shuttles
• 2 Nights camping at Toowoomba
• Friday Afternoon Jumps session at Steiner St (Toowoomba)
• Saturday Shuttles at Tooowoomba (Jubilee Park)
• Sunday Shuttles at Boomerang Farm Bike Park
• Due to operational requirements we will be departing from Caloundra (Sugar Bag Rd) at 11:30am on the Friday no other pick up locations will be available. Return to Forest Glen or Bike On
• Basic breakfasts (cereal and milk) and dinners (BBQ and Salads) will be provided. Children with specific dietary needs will need to provide their own meals.
• Self sufficiency is expected – all camping equipment, bedding, toiletries, suitable clothing and basic bike spares such as tubes etc are to be provided by each individual.

This program is STRICTLY for ADVANCED riders we coach. It is a “lightly” supervised event for strong riders who we coach ONLY. On site supervision and support will be provided at each location and at the camp ground. All riders will have the option of riding with coaches if they wish but they will be afforded the opportunity to ride without direct supervision at all locations and will be responsible for their own risk assessment on some potentially very dangerous features. If you feel your child requires direct supervision at these locations or will make poor or dangerous choices this is not a program for them.

Age requirements

While there is not a specific age requirement, this program will appeal to riders aged 12 -17 years of age, but other ages are certainly welcomed. Please contact us to discuss prior to booking.

Skill Requirements

• This is a highly advanced group and is for highly skilled riders 12+ (other ages by agreement) and racers with high levels of endurance. Advanced riders will be kids who race mountain bikes, are coached and ride several times a week and possess a genuinely strong set of high-end riding skills. Most of the riders in this group will be from our race team. This group will be for teenagers who are fast, aggressive riders.
  

Bike Requirements

This is an Advanced Program and the bike must be of a standard that doesn’t represent an unreasonable safety risk when riding at speed over rough terrain. A suitable bike will have:

• Dual suspension
• Disk brakes.
• Correctly adjusted and well maintained gears
• Tires with a reasonable amount of tread
• 26″ wheels or greater
• Well maintained and serviced

While bikes do not have to be super high end, they must be well maintained and in good working order. Riders presenting with bikes with non-functional brakes or brakes that are poorly preforming (contaminated rotors for instance) will not be allowed to participate and no refunds will be given if you have not ensured your bike is in safe working order prior to arrival.

All programs come with free bike safety checks, conducted by Bike On which also includes free basic adjustments (excludes parts and labour costs to fit). We would strongly encourage parents to take advantage of this offer.

Other Equipment Requirements

The following protective equipment is compulsory for this program (Boomerang Farm will not allow your to ride without this stuff, neither will we):

• A correctly fitting Australian Standards approved FULL FACE helmet
• Enclosed footwear – We strongly suggest MTB specific footwear
• Knee Pads
• Elbow pads or a long sleeve top
• Water AND a method of carrying it
• A tube that is suitable for your bike
• A charged mobile phone

We would also strongly recommend the following protective equipment:

• Full finger gloves

Wet Weather & Cancellations

The event will run in wet weather unless it presents a safety issue so be prepared with appropriate wet weather gear if the forecast looks wet. If we cancel the event due to the forecast a full refund will be provided. There are no refunds if participants choose not to ride due to the forecast, however we may, at our discretion be able to arrange a credit for a future session.
