Girls Mountain Bike Clinics

While there is not a specific age requirement, this program will appeal to riders aged 5-11 years of age but other ages are certainly welcomed. Please contact us to discuss prior to booking.

Please Note: These programs are not designed for parents to follow along with (even at a distance). If you feel you child still requires direct parental support or supervision, we would respectfully suggest that your child is not yet ready for these programs and would request that you do not book.

Skill Requirements

This is a Beginner Program but all riders must at least be capable of:

• Confidently riding a bike on smooth dirt surfaces.
• Stopping a bike using hand brakes without placing feet on the ground
• Be prepared to ride up hills. Please be aware these are group programs. Although we cater to young children, to avoid adversely impacting the groups all participants MUST have the resilience and ability to ride up hills without dismounting and walking.

What to Expect

This will run alongside our standard holiday programs but we will be running girls only group for girls looking to learn the basics of mountain biking with other girls.

We provide a wide variety of structured programs ranging from beginners just starting out through to advanced racing and every stage in between. Our program options are across multiple days and locations for children aged 5-17.

Whether it’s just trying out mountain biking for the first time or wanting to ride all holidays, we have plenty of options to explore this school holidays.

Bike and Equipment Requirements

The bike must be of a standard that doesn’t represent an unreasonable safety risk when riding on mountain bike trails. A suitable bike will have:

• Functional hand brakes for both the front AND rear wheels (No foot brakes permitted)
• Correctly adjusted and well maintained gears (Bike must have gears)
• Tires with a reasonable amount of tread
• 20″ wheels or greater (bikes with smaller wheels are highly unlikely to be suitable)
• Well maintained and serviced

The following protective equipment is compulsory for this program:

• A correctly fitting Australian Standards approved helmet – We strongly suggest a full face helmet
• Enclosed footwear – We suggest MTB specific footwear
• Water AND a method of carrying it. We can not emphasise this enough. For safety and so as not to impact route choice, children who turn up without a suitable amount of water, no mater their experience, will be allocated to beginner groups that do not go too far from a water source. Please ensure your child has water, there are no excuses and no exception. This is for their own safety!
• A spare tube that is suitable for your bike

We would also strongly recommend the following protective equipment:

• Full face helmet
• Knee and elbow pads
• Full finger gloves

While bikes do not have to be super high end, they must be well maintained and in good working order. All programs come with free bike safety checks, conducted by Bike On which also includes free basic adjustments (excludes parts and labour costs to fit). We would strongly encourage parents to take advantage of this offer.
