Easy riding

If it is your first ride in Noosa, or you are riding with people whose fitness you would not like to vouch for, the sealed path network is the easy answer. Flat, smooth, well signed and almost entirely away from traffic.

There is no route to plan and no map to read. You point the bike along the river and go.

What the riding is actually like

  • Sealed the whole way, with no loose surfaces to catch anyone out
  • Flat enough that nobody in the group gets dropped
  • Simple to follow, with the river doing the navigating for you
  • Separated from the busy roads for most of its length
  • Water, boats and bushland for most of the view

That makes it the right choice for families with kids on their own bikes, for anyone who has not ridden in years, and for groups where the fitness is all over the place. You are here for the scenery, not a workout.

The river and coast run

The best of it hugs the water. From Noosaville you can follow the Noosa River past the boats and the people making a day of it, then carry on towards Hastings Street on connected paths the whole way. This is the ride most people picture when they imagine cycling in Noosa, and it earns that reputation.

It is also the stretch where you will want to stop, so leave more time than the distance suggests. If the busy part is not what you came for, keep going. The network links into quieter sections, including parts of Tewantin National Park, where the foot traffic thins out and you can settle into your own pace. There is no committed loop to finish, so turn around whenever you have had enough.

Rides we have already mapped for you

If you would rather follow something than make it up as you go, these are the easy end of our ride guides. Each one comes with a route, a distance and an honest description of what you are in for.

Which bike to hire

For this kind of riding the pick of the fleet is the Velectrix electric cruiser. Upright, comfortable, easy to get on and off, and the motor takes the headwind and the extra kilometres out of the equation. It is the bike most people finish the day wishing they had started on.

The Comfort Deluxe is the plushest of them, with the Standard Cruiser close behind. If you would rather ride unassisted, a beach cruiser handles paths this flat without complaint. Because nothing here is technical, child seats, tag alongs and trailers all fit straight onto the cruisers, and kids on their own bikes are well within their depth.

When you want something harder

Once the bike paths are ticked off, the riding around Noosa opens up quickly. Wooroi & Wetlands is the next step for confident riders ready for forest singletrack, and the Noosa North Shore Beach Ride puts you on a ferry and then on sand.

There is more detail on gravel riding through the hinterland, mountain biking on the forest trails and beach riding on the North Shore.
