Noosa Main Beach One of the few beaches in Australia that faces north, so it sits in the lee of the headland and the surf stays gentle. The boardwalk runs from the Main Beach carpark right along the sand, with Hastings Street and its cafes one row back.
Noosa National Park Lock the bikes at the racks and the coast track starts there: Boiling Pot at 300 m, Dolphin Point at 1.2 km, Hell's Gates at 2.7 km. Look up in the trees as you go and you'll often spot koalas. Bikes aren't permitted past the racks, so this part is on foot, as far as you feel like walking.
Laguna Lookout A short pinch up Viewland Drive and the whole catchment opens up: Laguna Bay and the river mouth below you, the Noosa River winding back inland through the lakes, the hinterland ranges behind Tewantin. It's the one spot on the ride where you can see how the whole system fits together.
Lake Doonella Wetlands The shallowest lake in the Noosa Everglades system and a declared fish habitat, ringed by mangrove and saltmarsh. The path threads straight through it in the first few kilometres, the quietest stretch of the ride and the best chance of seeing waders before the day warms up.
Lake Weyba Around 9.6 km² of saltwater lake averaging just a metre deep, so on a bright day you can stand on the bank and watch stingrays glide over the sand flats. Pelicans, ospreys and white-bellied sea eagles work the shallows, and this is where our sister brand By Earth and Ocean runs its kayak tours. A short detour down Lake Weyba Drive puts you at the water.
Noosa River and Tewantin's Wharves Tewantin means "place of dead logs", from the years when this was the river's working timber port and rafts of logs were floated down to the wharves. The path picks up the river at Noosa Marina and stays with the water through Noosaville all the way to Noosa Sound.

Ride Overview

Starting in Noosaville, the route heads out on the Lake Doonella pathway, weaving through the wetlands on shared paths before dropping into Tewantin and picking up the Noosa River at Noosa Marina. From there the path stays with the water, over the Doonella bridge and along the Noosaville riverfront.

Past Noosa Sound the ride reaches the coast. There is an optional spur out to Noosa Spit before Hastings Street, then the Main Beach boardwalk, then a second optional spur to the bike racks at Noosa National Park, where you can lock up and walk the headland. Back on the bikes, a short climb up Viewland Drive earns the panorama from Laguna Lookout.

The way home runs through Noosa Junction and back across Weyba Creek, with an optional detour down Lake Weyba Drive to the wetlands at the southern end of the Noosa Everglades. From there it is flat shared path along Eenie Creek Road and Walter Hay Drive back to the shop. The whole loop is sealed, and Viewland Drive is the only real climb on it.
