OUR STORY
From a Bike Shop to Something Bigger
Ben and Rhonda came to Noosa wanting two things: to coach riders, and to run a tourism business in one of the best places in Australia to ride. In 2021 they bought Bike On and set about modernising it.
The fleet grew to cover every kind of riding, from getting around town to e-bikes, mountain bikes and fat bikes on the beach. The coaching programs expanded. And the hires became experiences.
We were here as GPS guided riding went mainstream, and we leaned into it. Instead of handing you a bike and a paper map, we ride and map the routes ourselves and load them onto your phone, so a ride with us becomes your own day out through Noosa and the hinterland. Those rides have kept evolving every year since.

Mountain Bike Coaching
Kids and teen programs, private lessons and adult coaching, seven days a week across four locations. More than 150 riders are enrolled in our after school programs alone.

PMBIA invited us to become an authorised course provider because of our coaching programs. We deliver the PMBIA Level 1 instructor course and the Kids Teaching Module.

OUR BIKE HIRE
From a Warehouse to Full Service Bike Experience Hub
When we bought Bike On, it was really a warehouse. Bikes went out to hotels and came back again, agents did the renting for us, and most riders never met the people who looked after their bike. The range was small, and so were the ways to ride and explore Noosa.
We wanted the opposite. We opened the doors, brought in high end bikes we could maintain properly ourselves, and put passionate riders behind the counter. Now you get a bike that has been set up and checked by people who ride, advice on where to take it, and help getting the most out of your day.
Along the way we spent a lot of time learning what people want from a ride when they come to Noosa, and bought bikes to match. We also built up our website and online booking, so you can see the range, plan your ride and book before you arrive.
Today Bike On is a full service bike hub. Our self guided rides come with route maps we have ridden and built ourselves, loaded onto your phone or GPS with spoken directions, and you can add them to any bike hire for a small fee. Our mountain bike coaching runs from the same team, from first rides for kids through to adults building their skills. Whatever brings you in, you’re dealing with riders who want you to get the most out of your time on a bike.

Our Coaching Pathway
From First Ride to Coaching Others
Coaching is the heart of Bike On. Some riders arrive nervous on their first day. Many stay with us for years.
Half of our instructors started out as riders in our programs, and others have taken their certification around the world, coaching as an after school job, after finishing school or on a working holiday.
Racing and development. For riders who want to race, our coaches spend the weekend with them at selected races, including the Fox Superflow races. We ride with them, show them lines, talk through their runs and back them all day, riding alongside them in race formats that allow it. It’s one of the ways we’ve developed kids from their very first ride all the way to state championship wins.
Watching a young rider become a coach is the part we’re proudest of.

Some of the best rides go well beyond a day’s hire. Over the years we developed guided multi-day journeys and point to point hinterland rides, where we take you out to places like Pomona, Cooran or Kin Kin and you ride back towards Noosa through quiet roads, gravel and beautiful hinterland scenery.
We bought By Earth and Ocean in 2023 to keep developing the ways we share Noosa, and it now runs as our sister brand for fully guided experiences. Alongside its kayak tours, it’s where you’ll find the multi-day journeys and hinterland rides we built at Bike On. A different style, the same belief: there’s more than one way to show people how special this place is.

The People Behind Bike On
We ride here too.
Our team includes some of the most highly qualified mountain bike instructors in Australia, and we know Noosa’s bike paths, mountain bike trails, gravel roads and hinterland routes because we ride them.
We also believe in giving local kids a go. Riders from our programs often land their first job with us, in the shop, cleaning bikes and helping out. It keeps Bike On what it has always been to us: a community of riders.
