Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, if you’re 18 or over. Since 31 August 2026, Queensland requires adult e-bike riders to hold a valid driver licence, with a learner licence the minimum. Interstate and overseas licences are accepted, but a suspended or disqualified licence can’t be used. Bike On will need to see your licence before handing over an e-bike, so keep it with your booking details.
Bike On can’t provide an e-bike without a valid licence, so it’s worth double-checking before you leave your accommodation. If you’ve left it behind, you can switch to one of Bike On’s pedal bikes and still ride the same routes. If you can get your licence back to the workshop, the team can swap you onto an e-bike, subject to availability.
Yes, with conditions. Riders aged 12 to 17 without a licence can ride an e-bike when a parent or guardian is riding with them and close enough to give instructions. Sixteen and 17-year-olds with a learner licence can ride on their own. Parents can be fined $518 if a child under 16 rides an e-bike illegally, so it’s worth planning your group’s route together.
No. Queensland law doesn’t allow children under 12 to ride e-bikes on roads or public paths, so Bike On can’t provide one. The team relies on your declaration of each rider’s age at the time of booking, so please make sure the ages you enter are accurate for everyone in your group.
An electric cruiser is the easiest place to start. The upright position and simple controls make it comfortable on the Noosa River path and around town, and the power assistance takes the effort out of longer rides. Fat bikes are another good option for less confident riders, as the wide tyres feel stable on gravel and uneven surfaces. The Bike On team will set you up before you head off.
Riders aged 18 years and over will need their driver or learner licence, and you’ll need a phone with internet access to use the free self-guided routes. An approved helmet must be worn at all times. It’s also worth bringing water, sun protection and enclosed shoes, especially if you’re riding the Wooroi trails. Your online waiver needs to be completed before the hire starts.
