Kids coaching
Why Families Keep Coming Back
We coach kids from five through to seventeen, and most of them are not training for anything. They come because it is fun. They ride with their mates, get a little bit better every week and go home muddy and happy.
What parents tell us, though, is that the changes go well beyond the bike. Shy kids start leading the group. Kids who never liked sport find something they are good at. Kids who couldn’t sit still learn to plan, focus and back themselves.
Why it works
A Sport Without a Scoreboard
Team sports are great for a lot of kids. But not every child enjoys a game with winners and losers, or the pressure of being the one who let the team down.
Mountain biking is different. There is no bench, no selection and no final score. Everyone rides, everyone progresses at their own pace, and the only rider you are measured against is the one you were last week. When someone clears a feature for the first time, the whole group cheers.
For kids who haven’t found their place in team sport, that can be the difference between sitting on the sidelines and finding something they love.
On the bike and off it
What Kids Take Away
Confidence
Rolling a rock step that scared them a month ago is proof they can learn hard things.
Resilience
Everyone comes off sometimes. Getting back on and working out what went wrong is a skill for life.
Self-awareness
Riders learn to read the trail, judge their own ability and decide when they are ready for the next step.
Identity
Being a mountain biker gives kids something that is theirs, and a crew of friends who get it.
Something they are good at
Skills build week by week, and kids can feel it happening.
A lifestyle
Riding gets kids outdoors and moving, and it is something they can keep doing for life.
Responsibility
Once a Bike Is Moving, You’re the Only One Who Can Stop It
That is one of the first things we teach, and it sums up why mountain biking builds responsibility so well. Nobody else steers, brakes or picks the line. Riders learn that their decisions have consequences, and that good decisions reduce risk and make riding more fun.
We teach it in controlled, progressive steps. Every session follows a structured lesson plan built on PMBIA methodology: one skill at a time, demonstrated, practised in a controlled environment, then taken out onto the trail. Groups are set by skill first, then age and stamina, so nobody is thrown in over their head.
The result is kids who are better, more aware riders who know how to manage risk, on the trail and on the ride to school.
Our coaching app
Coaching You Can See
Our coaches run every session from our own industry leading coaching app, built around structured lesson plans. Every coach at every location teaches to the same standard and builds on what came before.
It also means we can follow each rider’s development: where they are strong, what they are working on and what comes next. Parents can see what was taught in each lesson and the feedback their child received, so the chat in the car on the way home can be about more than “how was it?”

Kids Mountain Bike Coaching: Your Questions
From 5. Our After School Development Programs take riders from age 5, and we coach right through to 17. Younger kids still learning to ride can start with a private Learn to Ride lesson in Noosa.
Yes. This is not a learn to ride program. Although we take riders from 5, they need some off road mountain biking experience and must be able to ride confidently and in control down a simple mountain bike trail. Groups are set by skill first, then age and stamina, and every session follows a structured, progressive lesson plan, so beginners start at the right level.
After school programs run at Noosa, Parklands, Caloundra and Gympie. School holiday clinics run at Tewantin National Park, Parklands, Victory Heights in Gympie and Sugar Bag Road in Caloundra.
A mountain bike in good working order, a helmet, water and a spare tube. Riders without water or a spare tube cannot ride. It is one of the ways we minimise risk. The detail is in our booking terms.
